| | | Bay View Visual Arts Center On the 3rd floor of St. Joseph Hall, in rooms once occupied by boarders and Sisters of Mercy the dream of putting all the high school and middle school visual arts classrooms in one location was made real. Renovations began on July 1, 2008 and were completed for the start of the new school year. | | | | | | | While students have been using the new Visual Arts Center since the opening day of school the Center was formally dedicated on Mercy Day, September 24, 2008. Cutting the ribbon are (l to r) Bob Sanford of Cornerstone Design/Build, the contractor, Mrs. Margaret Harris, ceramics teacher, Sr. Diane Taylor, art teacher, Mrs. Cynthia Lorincz, Pre-k-8 principal, Sr. Elizabeth McAuliffe, president, Mrs. Mary Jane Andreozzi, art department chair, Sr. Arlene Wood, art teacher and Ms Colleen Gribbin, high school principal. | | | | | | | Three new art rooms were renovated allowing for much more space and perfect lighting. | | | | | | | A ceramics room that incorporates the kiln, pottery wheels and space for painting and drying was made out of four former dorm rooms. | | | | | | | Gallery space, a long time dream of Sr. Elizabeth’s, was incorporated into the Center.
