On October 14th, St. Mary Academy Bay View students asked questions and spoke to junior Molly Alves as she braved the cold weather of Churchill, Manitoba, Canada.  Molly was in Canada as a volunteer representative of Roger Williams Park Zoo.
The Zoo, in cooperation with Polar Bears International, sponsored an interactive videocast from the Marcy Hall Auditorium.  Molly explained that the students were being instructed by six facilitators who were zoo keepers, environmental biologists, and World Wildlife Fund representatives. Over the course of one week, students and instructors tracked and observed polar bears and studied the effects of global warming on the environment.

“We were all so thrilled to have held this conference at Bay View.  We have always been passionate about educating the public on issues relating to the conservation of species throughout the world.  We are so proud of all the work Molly has accomplished, and look forward to learning more from her work in Manitoba”.
- Jack Mulvena, Executive Director
